Melissa & Doug See & Spell Reviews
I think these word puzzles are a wonderful idea! My 3 yr old son just loves letters and words. He really enjoys putting these word puzzles together. There are a lot of loose letters in the box so he only plays with this with my supervision. Three might be a little young for some children to be interested, but if your child already loves anything with letters, they will like this. Also, a good idea for kindergarten age children to learn to start recognizing basic words and finding letters out of the stack. I actually find all the letters needed for the two words on the board and then allow my 3 yr old son to put them together as we go over the letter names. This keeps him from getting frustrated with too many letters to sort through. As he gets older he will then be able to sort them out for himself. Overall great toy.
I have an almost four year-old and a two year-old and they both love this set. The older one is beyond picking the letters and spelling the words given, but he uses the letters to spell new words while the younger spells the given words. I especially appreciate the letters being lowercase.
My 4 year old son loves this toy. He got it when he was 3 almost 4, for Christmas last year. It’s really great for a young child that is showing interest in letters and simple spelling. He’s learning how to spell these simple words just from playing with it! I’m quite pleased with this toy/puzzle set.
I bought this toy to help my 3 year old learn to spell and he loves it. Even though he doesn’t know letters yet, he really enjoys matching and I think it’s an awesome introduction to letters and spelling. The alphabet has no relevance to children, so I really appreciate this practical approach to introducing letters. Great product, and very sturdy. My only concern is losing the letters!
I do wish the box had a lid.
Another thing worth noting is that they include all letters, not just ones in the words they picked. For example, x and z are included, even though no words with x or z are in the puzzles.
